Talk about stepping off in it. Whew! This is one page turning bombshell. I was captivated from the beginning and held until the last word. It has all the action, drama, fear, violence and most of all strength. The characters are well developed and believable. Their personalities are unique and complex with multi layers. The scenes are so vivid and descriptive it paints a fantastic backdrop that really makes the storyline pop. The twists and turns as well as some unexpected surprises that keeps your attention on the pages as the story unfolds. I really enjoyed following the characters along as they grew into a vision they would soon become. I can't wait to see what Rae has for us next. Rae did an incredible job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Great job Rae, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.Product details

Yes, she has powers but not enough to defeat her enemies, enemies that she didn't even know she had! A good start to this YA series that borrows from Greek mythology.
"I would recommend this book to any age reader who like fast-paced and intriguing books, especially based Greek Mythology.
Don't plan on going to sleep early once you start reading this one. I loved the references to early Greek Gods. This is the start to a great series and I have happily discovered a new author.
This book starts slow and at the end you are wondering about the characters. They are developed in many ways but are still ambiguous. It is a plot twister and relegates the reader to consider the details.... I like to bond with the characters and this was tough. A good book all the same and intriguing.
The other reviews cover the basic story line well and need not be repeated here. When I first began reading, my thoughts were – hmmm, a bit derivative? As perhaps in Harry Potter and the Divergents? However that feeling dissipated immediately, within a chapter. The author has a unique voice and created a fascinating world within the existing. I was particularly drawn in by the mythology, timeless universals and archetypal characters which give the story a much deeper and lasting quality. The author employed these quite successfully. The cover is tremendous and alone would attract my attention, even more so having read the story – literally caught on fire.
The story line was compelling and the writing very clean which meant that I read the complete book in two or three short sessions – which doesn’t happen very often. A veritable page-turner. I am very excited to continue on the journey with El and her world.
I received an advanced complimentary copy of this book, but have subsequently purchased a version to enjoy the story again until book 2 in the series is available.
Base of this story was Great and SO much into my own tastes. So I jumped right into it.
Unfortunately execution was not That well. Style felt taugh and hard. Characters were too one dimensional but as Im a hacker for mythology based books I will try book 2.
This was a great read! I love stories that include ancient mythologies, and Descendants exceeded my expectations with a unique take on this subject. The story focuses on seventeen-year-old El, a descendant of a terrifying and powerful god from ancient Greece. Much of her life has been sheltered from the outside world, her existence shrouded in secrecy and lies. El has to discover the truth of who she is, of who she can trust, and of her place in the secret world of Arete.
I like coming-of-age kind of books, so I really enjoyed watching El grow in her confidence. The author did an excellent job of world-building, creating a totally believable hidden (sometimes scary) world that exists under the noses of us mere mortals. The story was fast-paced, and I found myself eager to discover how El would navigate this maze of secret factions, superhuman powers, and new relationships.
I want to learn more about El’s powers and about the descendants of the other gods, the other Arete. In this first book, you do learn quite a bit about them, but I think the second book will delve even deeper. I hope so!
I really enjoyed the world that Rae Else created in Descendants. I will definitely be reading more from this author and look forward to the next book in the series!
